Words have changed the way the world thinks. In the prehistoric ages the pictures were used to communicate. But when words evolved the scenario changed completely. People could express more and the emotions can be personified to a great extent. But again there became two different groups of people. One who only used to words to communicate and one who were able to write those words and used their imagination to give it anew look. It questioned people, criticized them and romanticized them. Thus began the writing career for many writers whose names are still referred after many centuries.
As mentioned earlier words evolved and it kept on changing and altering. New words were born and so were different languages. Each language had their own set of grammar, alphabets and ways of communicating. The styles were very different from each other. Each region has a unique blend in its language and many people have taken this as a profession. They are writing not only to communicate, but also to interpret situations, facts and to illustrate their feelings, thoughts and viewpoints. Some writers have romanticized over the ages and have written drams, plays and sonnets, like William Shakespeare. Some are more sarcastic, like O. Henry and Anton Chekhov. Others have dedicated their life in scientific discovery and inventions and then noting them in the thesis papers, like Albert Newton and Marie Curie. Whatever may be the goal of the writer the result was always communicated to the society, and they have received the due accolades.
Practically speaking this is not a very tough profession. All you need is a complete grasp of the language and grammar and some imagination. Also, required is the ability to do in depth research, which is becoming more flexible and easy due to the introduction of the World Wide Web. Also the opportunities in this field have grown substantially and the profession has seen lot of diversity. Content writing, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), blogging, technical writing and website administration are the career options which were unheard a few years back. But with opportunity has come challenges and competition. You need to be competent and committed in order to be successful in this filed. One needs to have a through understanding of the subject they are working on. Without the requisite knowledge they will not be able to deliver quality work. The writers must also be professional and adhere to the time frame regulated by the project. Imagination can definitely be used, but not out of the way. It should be able to connect to the subject of the project.
The writing career has just seen its beginning and it has long way to go. It has seen a complete turnaround in its life cycle. New avenues are getting opened and writers are taking up the challenges with full might. Welcome to the new generation of professional writers.
