The mankind has evolved over the years through the power of words. The depiction of emotion, love, anger and any other forms of human feelings can be done by writing. The introduction of alphabets and its transformation into words and phrases is a work of art and science. The past, present and future are all engulfed by the essence of words. And the world has seen many writers and scholars using this method to entertain, criticize and question people.
Over the years this methodology of communication has evolved into many streams and categories. Some deal with science and mathematics, some with history and natural science, whereas some deal with drama and entertainment. Some deal only with the day to day life of human beings and their existence, the facts and the fiction of human lives and its surrounding environment. But not all people have this ability. Many acquire it, some are born with it and a few inherit it. Though there is no hard and fast rule to be a successful writer, yet a few checkpoints can be noted to avoid any loose ends. This is more apt if you are a freelance writer. The points are:
- Know your forte: It is very important to know what you are good at. You should know your potential and strong points. Whether you have technical mind, or prefer a more creative side, it all depends upon you and how judge and analyze yourself. The key is to unleash your core competency.
- Know your limits: Even after you are aware of strong point you still need to know how far you ca go. Not all have the same capabilities or depth of knowledge. You can definitely acquire it over a period of time, but when you take up a project, always analyze if you are thorough with the subject. There is no point taking up a project, just to prove you, rather say no and be honest.
- Professional attitude: Any successful writer are through professionals Taking cue from the previous point, a professional writer will always say no to a project, that he is incapable of doing. You may feel down, because of this, but at least you know your limitations and will give the best work that is within your domain.
- Ask questions: There is no harm in asking questions. You must be absolutely sure of the task, before you take up the project. Know what is expected, and whether there is any special parameter that needs to be followed. Stick to the rules and regulations of the project, and ask if you are not unsure of any such rules.
- Timeline: Any projects have a specific timeline and when you are taking up the project, respect it. Because it not only show your professionalism, but also earn you the reputation, which will help you to get more projects.
Last but not the least, do not stop learning. The more you learn; the better a writer you will be. And this is just the beginning of the era of good writing.
